Status Report – Details

Hello!

That’s been a while, again..  We’re still here and keep working on things but really we’re down to details and progress is pretty slow.  We got baseboard and more trim, all fir and all of it needing a few coats of Benite and polyurethane so it takes a bit of time to get it ready.  We also built our garden boxes to start growing our own veggies, wish us luck on that one..  Otherwise, we’re slowly working on details like lighting, shelving and other things that make a house a home 🙂

We’re also making sure to find time to enjoy the spring weather and sunsets in nearby Golden Gardens!

Update – Long Overdue!

Wow, over a month with no posting, guess we were hit with some renovation fatigue..  We didn’t do that much over the Holidays and slowly started picking things up again in January.  Mostly finishing trim, cleaning up, unpacking, organizing and cleaning up some more..

Status – Week 14

Since most of the significant and messy work is done, this is now more of an update on how the different rooms and spaces are slowly being finished.  This week, for obvious reasons, the focus was on kitchen and bath.  Mike got going on the maple counter and sink cut-out while Jon kept going on the final tiles in the bathroom.

Status – Week 12/13; Moved!

Well, we moved! It was a madhouse, as expected, and really we should have waited another week but that would mean more rent, another month on our PODS rental and just more hassle so we figured we’d rough it out for a while..

Trusses!

This is cool stuff, so it deserves its own post 🙂

When we in the design phase and talked about the addition and matching the existing roof line, Mike opted for prefabricated roof trusses to keep framing labor/material and thus cost down (this was also a pre-requisite for getting a STFI permit, another cost (and time) saver!).

Well today, they arrived… 

Status – Week 0

With permits in hand, we were ready to get going.  In short, it was demolition time!
